Print Service

The DV-FKF maintains several public printers. These printers are shared with all computers in the institute. Linux/Unix systems use the IPP protocol and CUPS (Common Unix Printing System). Windows NT/2000/XP systems use the SMB protocol and the print server FKFPRINT (NETBIOS name).

The public printers are maintained by Marco Fahrner. Please contact him or Andre Neubauer if you need media (paper, transparencies) or if there is a technical problem with the printer. Please do not attempt to fix paper jams yourself as especially the color printers are very sensitive and expensive devices.

Poster printers are also available in the Zeichenbüro and are monitored by Regine Noack. Please contact her if you want to print your posters there.

Printer setup

Printer setup for Windows XP and Windows 7:

XP: Click Start - Run and enter \\fkfprint and hit return.
Win7: Click Start and enter \\fkfprint in the Search bar and hit return.
Double click one of the printers (5d3_a3c ...)
Wait until you see the new printer window comes.
Close all windows.

For Linux/Unix systems only the default CUPS installation is required.
