Springer Materials is the database of the Landolt-Börnstein Handbuch with a new user friendly search interface.
The Handbuch was founded 1883 by Hans Heinrich Landolt (1831-1910) and Richard Börnstein (1852-1913). The first issue was a single volume of 280 pages. It is a systematic and comprehensive resource of selected and critically assessed data explained in their scientific context. Today, the printed Handbook comprises more the 350 volumes accessible via a historically grown printed index.
The database offers now three different access schemes:
- single line "Google-like" search engine with incremental search
- point-and-click periodic system of elements
- traditional systematics from printed work
