How to find us

A. Public transport from Stuttgart Hauptbahnhof (main-line station)
Take lines S1, S2 or S3 of the Underground ("S-Bahn"), directions Herrenberg, Böblingen, Vaihingen, Filderstadt or Flughafen.

• Alight at Vaihingen (journey time 14 minutes) and change to bus line 81, direction Busnau. Alight at "Max-Planck-Institute" (journey time approx. 13 minutes). From Monday to Friday buses leave every 10 minutes during the day.
• Or alight at Universität (journey time 10 minutes) and change to bus lines 84, 91 (direction "Sindelfingen/Vaihingen Bahnhof") or 92 (direction "Leonberg/Stgt.-Rotebuehlplatz"). Alight at "Max-Planck-Institute" (journey time approx. 5 minutes). From Monday to Friday buses leave approx. every 30 minutes until 7.45 p.m. (increased frequency during the rush hours). Limited service on weekends!

B. By car (A8 or A81)

• At Autobahnkreuz Stuttgart (the Stuttgart motorway interchange, exit 51, Vaihingen), take the A831, direction Stuttgart-Zentrum. Leave at the "Universität" exit. At the traffic lights on the bridge, turn left, direction Universität. Follow Universitätsstraße, then turn right into Nobelstraße. At the end of Nobelstraße (roundabout), turn right into Busnauer Straße. After a few hundred metres, you will see the Max-Planck-Institut building on the left.

C. By air
From Echterdingen Airport, take lines S2 or S3 of the Underground ("S-Bahn"), directions Schorndorf or Backnang.

• Alight at Vaihingen (journey time 13 minutes) and change to bus line 81, direction Büsnau. Alight at "Max-Planck-Institute" (journey time approx. 13 minutes). From Monday to Friday buses leave every 10 minutes during the day.
• Or alight at Universität (journey time 17 minutes) and change to bus lines 84, 91 (direction "Sindelfingen/Vaihingen Bahnhof") or 92 (direction "Leonberg/Stgt.-Rotebuehlplatz"). Alight at "Max-Planck-Institute" (journey time approx. 5 minutes). From Monday to Friday buses leave approx. every 30 minutes until 7.45 p.m. (increased frequency during the rush hours). • Oder bis Universität (Fahrzeit 10 Min.). Umsteigen in Buslinie 84, 91 (Richtung "Sindelfingen/Vaihingen Bahnhof") oder 92 (Richtung "Leonberg/Stgt.-Rotebühlplatz") bis Haltestelle "Max-Planck-Institute" (Fahrzeit ca. 5 Min.). Die Busse fahren Mo - Fr von 8.00 bis 19.45 Uhr, alle 30-60 Min. (zusätzliche Busse während der Stoßzeiten).

B. Via Autobahn

• A8 oder A81 bis Autobahnkreuz Vaihingen, Ausfahrt Vaihingen, Nr. 51. Wechsel auf die A831, Richtung Stuttgart-Zentrum bis Ausfahrt Universität. An der Ampel auf der Autobahnbrücke links abbiegen, Richtung Universität. Der Universitätsstraße bis zur Einmündung in die Nobelstraße folgen. Der Nobelstraße bis zum Ende folgen, am Kreisel rechts abbiegen in die Büsnauer Straße. Nach einigen hundert Metern sieht man links das Institutsgebäude.

C. Ab dem Flughafen Stuttgart

• Mit der S-Bahn S2 oder S3 (Richtungen "Schorndorf" oder "Backnang") bis Bahnhof Vaihingen (Fahrzeit 13 Min.). Umsteigen in Buslinie 81 (Fahrzeit ca. 13 Min.). Die Busse fahren Mo - Fr von 5.30 bis 24.00 Uhr, tagsüber alle 10 Min., frühmorgens und abends alle 20-30 Min.
