The deformation potentials for the splitting of the Lambda 25' state at the top of the valence band of Si under trigonal strain have been calculated as a function of the internal strain parameters zeta . The calculations, relativistic LMTO, were made with and without inclusion of spin-orbit coupling. The deformation potentials that agree with experiments correspond to 0.4
